A Handicap 4H Club Using All Miniature Animals
The club's purpose is to give physically or mentally challenged children and adults the opportunity to enjoy working with animals and build their self-confidence. Miniature horses can be trained, groomed, exercised and handled from a sitting position, and their usually pleasant personality makes them perfect for people with a range of mental and physical disabilities.
Children at Cozy Corner are introduced to miniature horses in a congenial and safe fashion, with volunteers present at every meeting. The goal of some members is to learn to show the minis at halter, but others simple love being around the horses and other animals!
| The club was organized by Genevieve L. du Pont, a competition winner who has ridden and taught a good portion of her life despite multiple congenital and acquired disabilities. Those seeking more information can contact her directly and/or view the club's website. |
